2010 Taku Build - 100 Women House

The 100 Women House is a unique house sponsorship model made up of individual women, groups of women, women's organizations, small businesses and corporations owned and/or operated by women in our community who demonstrate community leadership and their commitment to eliminating substandard housing in Anchorage and making adequate housing a matter of conscience and action! These women recognize the importance of a safe, affordable home in which to raise a family and contribute $1,000 annually.

This sponsorship model was started in 2008 with just 38 individuals and groups contributing. In 2009 Wells Fargo helped generate more interest in this project with a $50,000 Challenge Grant. This year Wells Fargo will again provide a $30,000 Challenge Grant to help increase NEW donor funding for this project. By 2011 it is hoped that the entire $100,000 sponsorship amount can be raised solely from individual women and women's groups, organizations and businesses and sustain this giving model so that women leaders in Anchorage are sponsoring a 100 Women House each year! The 2010 100 Women House will be a newly designed two-story, three-bedroom, detached single-family home. This home will be located at 5450 Taku Drive on the corner of the Glenn Highway and Boniface Parkway - just east of the two Habitat homes built in 2009. Volunteers will be helping build this home with the Wayne Kriger Family. See their bio on page 9 of the 2010 100 Women House Booklet.

This year we scheduled ten Women Build Days, where women volunteers could work at the Taku Jobsite. All ten days have been completely filled with individual women or groups of women. Thank you for your GREAT RESPONSE!!

- signing up for the date(s) you wish to volunteer and join us at the Taku jobsite! Thank You!!

Join the women listed below who have already made a commitment to donate $1,000 and become a part of the 2010 100 Women House! If you are able to take advantage of a company matching program, please forward the necessary paperwork to Jan Cawvey at HFHA. We have $41,500 of commitments to date and need to raise an additional $28,500 this year, so please contact us to make your funding commitment and payment as soon as possible. Construction has begun!!

If you are unable to donate $1,000 individually, please ask nine friends and colleagues to join you in donating $100 each and give your group a name. Send [Jan Cawvey] the group name and a list of the individuals in your group for proper accounting of your group's donations.

HFHA will publicize 100 Women House sponsors' names on this website and in all appropriate publications. Each entity contributing $1,000 will have one line for the individual, group, organization or business name. Donations can also be made 'in honor of' or 'in memory of' special women in your life.
